Planning a visit?

Hahei is about 2.5 hours from Auckland — head south on SH1, take the turn-off at Thames onto the Coromandel Peninsula, and follow the signs through Whitianga to Hahei. The drive through the peninsula is beautiful, so allow a little extra time to enjoy it.

While you're here, Cathedral Cove is a short walk or water taxi ride away, and Hot Water Beach is just 10 minutes down the road (best two hours either side of low tide — bring a spade).
